In this play shop, we explore the improvisational dimensions and creative aspect of spiritual stand-up comedy – how is it different from other forms of comedy, what makes it ‘spiritual’, the effect we have on our audience and the therapeutic benefits of laughter. Participants will learn to utilize it to serve as a powerful platform for social activism and how to develop their own unique, authentic style of delivery, using facial expressions, vocal intonation, movement dialog, props and more.

It has been said ‘Whatever you can’t laugh at, owns you’. With this view, you will be invited to engage in your ‘stuff’, to explore humor as a healing technique in your life. Participants will be given the opportunity to perform in front of a live audience.

D)     Releasing Fear of Performing – Learn several special techniques to build confidence, increase creativity and conquer your fears.

E)      Comedy Therapy- Exploration, Healing, Releasing, Opening and Creative Self-Expression

F)      Live Performance and Evaluation – A chance to release your fears and actually perform. Your peers will offer constructive evaluation.

Veenaa Saynana Laughing Dolphin has a Gold Medal in Performance from the London School of Music and Dramatic Arts. She has been involved in theatre arts from the age of 9, having written, directed and staged plays and teaching drama in schools and institutions. She began doing comedy on national TV in Singapore in the’80s. She is an international facilitator, having taught in USA, Canada, Bali, Australia, HK, China and Singapore, where she is from.

She recently wrote and facilitated an interactive multi-media play called Spontaneous Combustion in Eugene, OR.

Veenaa invites you to join the dolphins on a powerful, healing journey. Welcome to a spontaneous evening of dolphin playfulness, spontaneity and humor. We will access the wisdom of the dolphins through sacred codes given by the dolphins who are sacred beings of light from the Star Sirius. They are here to guide us into living lives of harmony, love and peace in spite of the divine chaos that we see in our world. Veenaa will channel messages from the dolphins, who speak through her very frequently. They have delighted people from Canada to California, from Arizona to Australia, with their loving guidance and magical energy.
